Maddy Hutchins Wins Thorne Writing Prize Competition

On the evening of May 16, 2012, Parsons Lodge was packed with friends and family members of the 19 finalists in the 2012 Thorne Writing Prize competition. Prizes are awarded in two genres (poetry and fiction) to four members of the student body (freshmen/sophomores and juniors/seniors). Winners receive a generous prize and publication in Manuscripts, Pomfret's literary magazine.

Following the announcement of the winners, author Sandra Beasley, who also served as this year's guest judge, gave a reading from her own collections, including I Was the Jukeox.

Maddy Hutchins was this year's winner of the Freshman/Sophomore fiction writing prize Maddy is from Hampton, CT and is a member of the Class of 2014.
