Madeleine Hutchins of Hampton was in the cast of winter musical, "In the Heights," at Pomfret School

Madeleine Hutchins of Hampton, a member of the Pomfret School class of 2014, was recently in the cast of Pomfret's winter play production of the 2008 Tony Award-winning musical "In the Heights" on February 21-23.

In a three-day time span and in three main venues--a bodega, a beauty salon, and a taxi dispatch service, "In the Heights" examines the lives of a close-knit Dominican-American neighborhood in New York City's Washington Heights. At the forefront are the husband-and-wife owners of the struggling taxi company, their daughter (a student at Stanford University); a $96,000 lottery ticket, everybody's "Abuela"; a gifted graffiti artist, and everybody's loves, hopes and dreams.

Maddy had the role of Camila, owner (with her husband) of the taxi company. On Saturday, February 22,at the "Broadway Nights" cabaret held beforehand, Maddy also sang "If I Loved You," from Carousel.
